ADAPTIVE PILATES

Pilates for people with injuries or disabilities

We strive to offer all individuals, regardless of their movement capabilities, the opportunity to experience Pilates and all it can offer. Our knowledgable and experienced staff meets each person with their unique strengths and challenges and teaches them how to leverage those strengths.

We align ourselves with Heroes In Motion, an international initiative founded by the Pilates Method Alliance, the professional association and certifying agency for Pilates teachers. The group is dedicated to facilitating functional movement to those who experience severe impediments to motor control.

Heroes in Motion is developing an international network of Pilates teachers who offer movement instruction to eligible clients in their communities. It serves clients with military and civilian affiliations. Conditions addressed include polytrauma, vestibular disorders, prosthetic limb(s) and traumatic brain injury among other challenges to movement.

In 2014 and 2016 after attending a PMA, Heroes In Motion Think Tank, Lisa Priebe began to spread the word about the ability and interest of EBP teachers to work with these individuals. This is when she met Kira.
